The right smartphone for me. BB vs. iPhone.
The iPhone and the iPod Touch is by far a cool, sexy gadget. It’s less a phone packed with extras than a full-fledged laptop or should I say hand held computer for your pocket. Its big display and touch screen interface make web surfing and video lurking a whole lot easier than any other smart phone available right now.
It comes packed with support for Gmail, AOL, and Yahoo Mail and in the case of the iPhone it also doubles as an iPod. Apple has a great app store and many of the apps put Blackberry apps to shame. I personaly would rather use iPhone or iPod touch twitter apps over Blackberry’s twitter apps, however, the Blackberry apps gets the job done in raw form.
But with my career in sales, I need my phone to work for me. I have tight deadlines, and I need to communicate with people in now. Syncing with my Gmail agenda, notifying me where I should be and who’s calls need to be returned is of extreme importance. Also an e-mail that states “Sent from my BlackBerry.” gives the impression that you’re an accessible road warrior.
Yes, the iPhone does all of this, but the organization of my SMS text messages, emails from several accounts, missed calls, agenda and voice mail is by far superior on the Blackberry.
The keyboards between the two are similar, I find the iPhone to be superior and easier to use, one of the advantages of the large iPhone touch screen. The iPhone’s built-in spellchecker does drive me insane. It alternates between correcting words I don’t want it to correct and letting brazen errors slip through.
While I can’t imagine leaving my BlackBerry behind for an iPhone, I do carry both around with me.
Am I clearly in the minority? No!
