Does training mean taking notes, allot of notes?

Mac or PC?

Back when I was in high school, I had this theory that was to I listened to the each teacher attentively and be present at every class. I would easily Ace classes. Once I hit higher levels of education or what I like to refer to training, I quickly came to realize that notes had the utmost importance. Without proper documentation of each course, studying quickly became a nightmare and failure was creeping up rapidly.

I’ve trained every new employee joining the company I work with for the past seven years or so and I do a great job at it. I’ve never failed and have had some of the company’s most successful players work with me attaining the highest levels of productivity and sales and yet have been matched by any of our senior staff.

I truthfully believe that the right training leads to company growth and success and any company hiring new employees and not taking the weeks or months needed eventually fails at so many levels.

Getting back to taking detailed notes. I was originally trained by a genius, what people thought to be a terrible manager. This terrible manager was a detailed man, someone who thought of every possible angle and never took a decision without all of the facts. He thought me both on how the operation functioned but more importantly gave me hundreds of life lessons on management and how to properly analyze people. I later wrote a ninety-seven page manual which I continue to add, update and refer too daily. I’ve just recently taken the time to convert this document in a PDF format allowing me to quickly browse to the section I need to refer too in seconds.

My new employees or trainees have barely written a paragraph of notes in three days. I was told by these two people that I my training was so detailed that no notes are needed to succeed. Being open minded, I’ve decided to use this as a learning curve for myself.

I declare this project open and name it “WHO NEEDS NOTES”.

I’ve explained my theories behind proper documenting to them, but told them that I may be old school and I am willing to analyze their progress without notes. What I left out is that i’ve decided to document my training and will put their theory to the test upon completion of my three month training. I’m looking forward to see if they succeed just as well as my past students and this on short and long term. I honestly believe they will eventually fail.

But since I’m documenting my training, giving me the excuse “I WAS NOT TRAINED ON THAT” at a later time will be an immediate fail on their part.

Day three of a ninety day training!

Good luck lady and gent, may the force be with you! Put on your poker face!

Eric
