What is this Cloud and does it affect my business?
Technology has influenced the way we do day to day tasks both at home and in the office.
It’s amazing to see how people everywhere are infected with cellular phones, tablets, laptops and the dying desktop computers disease. Take a five minutes downtown or walk by the nearest Starbucks, if you haven’t witnessed someone on a smart device, you’re in denial. These technological Zombies are feeding...

Keith Marple Wants to Run a Hospital: Recalled →
keithmarple:
Intel recently issued a recall for the motherboards for its new Sandy Bridge chipset, and I’ve been hit twice. I just built a new PC for my parents to replace their dying one. They’ll be without a computer when I rip their faulty mobo out of their PC, send it back, and wait for a…

Empire Avenue (Promote your online presence)
My recent social media addiction has been growing my eaves promoting my online presence on EmpireAvenue.com. I can’t say I am amazed with the interface, but I have to admit, I’m addicted.
Empire Avenue is a Canadian-based social stock market-like game that allows users to buy and sell shares of people and websites. It started in February 2010 as an invitation-only closed beta before launching to...

How to start your own blog and twitter account.
Micro Blogging and Blogging are two topics frequently talked about by entrepreneurs The most common question that comes up is: “What do we need to get started and how do we become great at it?
The answer may seem simple, but just like you’re business, your job or your hobby; you have to do allot of it and you have to do it well.
I like to refer to Twitter as a micro blogging platform. Your posts...

Social Media / New Media / YOU Commerce
I’m witnessing too many companies getting involved with social media / new media without the slightest clue of what they are getting into. Essentially these companies have one or two “I know it all” type employees spending hours of company time setting up accounts such as Twitter or Facebook fan pages and Youtube profiles / video and have little to NO results to show in return.
This is absolutely...

DiSC Theory (The four quadrant to success)
I’ve had the opportunity lately to participate in a small office group study of the DiSC Model with the help of a facilator/motivator. DiSC is the four quadrant behavioural model based on the work of William Moulton Marston Ph.D. (1893 - 1947) to examine the behaviour of individuals in their environment or within a specific situation.
DiSC is defined by four categories of human behavioural...

Hijacking Facebook accounts
Hi everyone,
as some of you already know, I’m a tech junkie, I love my gadgets and I enjoy having access to the internet no matter where I am.
I carry an iPod Touch, blackberry and a laptop almost everywhere I go. A little while ago on #TechCrunch, I read an article on account Hijacking. Something you all need to take extremely seriously, as it exists.
Using Wifi on a public unprotected network...

Customer Service to Success - Top Ten
It should not, however, be considered a one-time or annual event. Customer service training is an ongoing process that needs to be incorporated into the organization’s culture and way of doing business.
Good customer service training will be based on the needs of your organization as well as the skill level of your employees. Following are some key elements in ensuring that your customer...

Great Teachers are great managers
Take a moment to breathe and now think back, and I do mean ruffle thru scattered, distant memories, go back in time and remember the influencers past. I’m positive one or more teachers have influenced your life. It’s only normal to think back, and reminisce about the great moments, moments in class or with friends. I can clearly remember a handful of great teachers; I mean the ones with passion,...

Montreal Canadians Management
Twenty-Five thousand Montréalers came down on Carrey Price last night, the Montreal Canadians goalie and not a reaction from Price. Price has allot to prove and last night’s fall was not his fault but a poor management decision. Price had allot to live up to, he had to live to Jaroslav Halák instant fame, last year’s goalie who quickly became a Montreal Icon, a hockey god! I don’t know very many...

Connect with your team
Everyone craves connection. As a child, the majority of us grew up with our parents giving us some sort of recognition every time we did something right and correcting us when we did something wrong. The human race needs positive contact but on different doses. I personally enjoy a tap on the back once in a while and I crave customers or team members telling me how well I’m doing or just how great...

Management Coaching
Today was day one of three days of Coaching paid by the company I currently share my week days with. I can’t begin to preach on how important this coaching is for the company to attain new heights.
I have sadly learned little material today as I have already attended similar seminars, but I feel some of my colleagues have learned a great deal! What has sunken in today was greater than any lesson,...

Cellular Customer Service in Montreal
I’m not going to hide it; I’m a somewhat content customer with #Telus Mobility. They have always managed to help me without any post billing nightmares. They answer the call quickly, although sometimes a little abrupt, they always manage to please me at the end. I really can’t say the same with #Rogers Mobility.
I was once a #Rogers mobile subscriber or what I like to call “customer” for short....

Management Coaching
Hi Everyone,
Coaching refers to the activity of a coach in developing the abilities of coachees or clients. Coaching tends to focus on the achievement by coachees of a goal or specific skill. Methodologies for coaching are positioned away from the directive or the facilitative, and rest on accompanying clients within a dialogue that will allow emerging patterns and solutions to surface. Coaching...

Advertisement, or WebInterest?
I’m sure many or my readers currently have a website or a blog and have opted against having ads displayed. I agree that a corporate site showcasing product is not a place to put ads as it makes it look cheap and out of place. However, ads do have their perks and more often than not, if strategically placed on a personal website , a blog or a forum these ads can bring revenue or what I like...

Corporate Twitter (How to)
I have a pet peeves to share with my readers:
I’ve been attending many Social Media events and have discussed the topic with so called Internet Marketing Gurus. I’m talking about men and woman who have published books on how to promote your personal brand or how to boost traffic to your website.
Don’t get sucked into the evil buy my book vortex, most of these books will teach...

The right smartphone for me. BB vs. iPhone.
The iPhone and the iPod Touch is by far a cool, sexy gadget. It’s less a phone packed with extras than a full-fledged laptop or should I say hand held computer for your pocket. Its big display and touch screen interface make web surfing and video lurking a whole lot easier than any other smart phone available right now.
It comes packed with support for Gmail, AOL, and Yahoo Mail and in the...

Travelling with time
Understandably time is of essence in the business world, but are watches really a necessity? Do watches still have a place? Are these unique function devices on their way out? Who exactly wears them and why?
I haven’t worn a watch to tell time since the late eighties, early nineties. I’m thirty five years old and was fed technology at an early age.
I had a pager at 15, one which...

Although this post may seem off-topic, it’s not. Any business savvy, hard working individual knows that saving $250.00 with little effort is worth your time, especially when you’re just starting off in your career.
Two winters ago, some jackass scrapped the side of his white car onto my bumper, leaving a huge scratch looking design on my bumper. Like most of you reading this, I...

Analyze this!
Hey everyone,
I apologize, It has been a while since I last wrote any new material. A great friend of mine and someone I owe allot of my success to has passed away two weeks ago. He is a great man and will remain an icon to me for decades to come. Alex, you will forever be remembered as someone I trusted and someone who’s taught me a trick or two, I just wish we could sit down over a few...

One life, learn from it!
It’s funny how both your business life and your personal life can fluctuate from one day to another depending on who you speak to, what you read and the people around you who inspire you the most! I’m a huge believer that the people around you are what essentially dictate your next step in life.
For example, It’s been a while that I have written a blog post, and the reason is...

Does training mean taking notes, allot of notes?
Mac or PC?
Back when I was in high school, I had this theory that was to I listened to the each teacher attentively and be present at every class. I would easily Ace classes. Once I hit higher levels of education or what I like to refer to training, I quickly came to realize that notes had the utmost importance. Without proper documentation of each course, studying quickly became a nightmare and...

Avatar
Among the vast ambitions, Avatar is partly about colour. It is James Cameron’s first movie since Titanic went down 12 years ago, so you can bet he has a lot to say, but the primary directive might be to make a film so beautiful in its use of colour that it restores our faith in movies.
He wants us all to emerge thinking “I’ve never seen that before”. He’s trying both...
